Last year a parent in Kota showed me the board form. Photo 100 kb. Or was it 200. We argued. Then we opened the form. The number was written there. We had both remembered wrong.

This year I will not guess. Read this year form. Then compress.

This is not official board advice. I do not work for RBSE. I do not work for BSER. I sit in an office and shrink photos when the portal says file too large.

If the form says 100 kb, aim under that. If it says 200 kb, aim under that. If it says 40 kb, that is a painful year. Slider goes down. Preview gets muddy. Stop before the face is gone.

Read the form, then use the slider

Compress slider for a board form photo

Open Compress Image. Drop the photo. Move quality. Watch the preview and the size.

File Size Checker if you already have a file and only want the number. Drop, see KB.

Phone camera is 3 mb without trying. Board wants a small jpg. That gap is why people sit in the cyber cafe till 8 pm.

I am not setting a legal size. Board circular changes. School WhatsApp group forwards old screenshots. Trust the live form, not the forward from 2023.

Signature box is often a different kb. Photo 100, sign 50, or whatever they printed this year. Two files. Two compresses. Do not use the same export for both.

Width in pixels is a separate reject. Some forms want 200 by 230 or some box. Resize Image for width. We do not claim official PSK size as law, and we do not claim board pixel size as law either. Type what the form shows.

If they want square, Image to Square pads white. Then compress.

Your file is not uploaded to our server. The board site is the one that stores it after you upload there. Different website. FileOnDesk is not a government portal.

20 MB is our tab limit. Board photos are nowhere near 20 MB after a proper shrink. If checker shows 4 mb, you have not compressed yet.

Start slider high. Download. Check KB. Still over, slider down a bit. Download again. Do not jump to 10 percent first. Ugly.

If the face is a blur, go back one step, accept a few extra kb if the form allows.

Some years they also reject png. PNG to JPG then compress.

Background should be what the form said. I will not invent white or blue as a rule. Look at the instruction pdf they attached.

Kota July, a usual mess

School computer not working. Parent on a Redmi. Chrome. We compressed three times because the first two were 118 kb and the form said 100.

118 looks close. Portal said no. 90 kb went through.

So under means under, not almost.

Name the file simple. photo.jpg. No hindi characters if the portal is old. I have seen that fail, unrelated to kb, but people blame size.

Date of birth proof is a scan, often a pdf, different limit, sometimes 500 kb. This article is the photo. Do not mash the marksheet into the photo slot.

JPG to PDF is for papers, not for the passport photo box. Photo box wants an image.

If the board wants photo inside a pdf application, read carefully. Usually photo is jpg upload, form is something else.

I keep last year notes and I throw them when the new form is out. Wrong notes are how 200 kb became a rumour in our colony.

Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaipur parents all send the same screenshot. The screenshot is cropped. The kb line is missing. Open the actual form.

If school gave a printed pamphlet with a number, still confirm on the site. Pamphlets lag.

Disclaimer again. Not official board advice. If the site is down, wait. Do not keep compressing into mush hoping the server will wake.

Cyber cafe uncle who says he knows the exact kb for all boards, smile, then read the form yourself.

We can only shrink and measure. Compress Image and File Size Checker.

If after compress the portal still says invalid, it might be pixels, or jpg vs jpeg spelling, or a max width. Resize, then compress again. Order matters. Resize first can make compress easier.

If you compress first to 80 kb then resize, size may drop more or look worse. I resize toward the px they asked, then quality slider, then checker.

Passport size crop is your job in gallery or a crop app. Our Passport Photo Resize is px numbers you type from the form. Not a promise of RBSE law.

After it is under the kb

Upload on the board site from a laptop if the phone browser of that portal is nasty. Keep the small jpg in Downloads till the acknowledgement shows.

Do not delete the original 3 mb photo till then. If they open a correction window, you may need a different crop.

Close our tab. Nothing stored with us. Your file is not uploaded to our server.

If two children, two photos, two names on files. childA-photo.jpg. Do not mix.

Signature in black on white paper, photo of that, then compress. Grey table background makes the portal angry some years. Again, read their note.

I am not listing exam dates. This is a file size note.

Gmail is not the board. Sending the photo to yourself is fine. Their 25 mb is huge compared to 100 kb.

WhatsApp will crush a photo if you send as photo. Send as document after you already hit the kb, or you may go too small and muddy, or WhatsApp may leave it still over if you are unlucky. Best, finish on FileOnDesk, then upload on the board site, skip extra apps.

If checker says 99 kb and portal says too big, their counter might be counting a bit different, or they want 50. I aim 10 percent under the printed max when I am tired of retries.

20 MB error on our tool means you dropped the original raw by mistake. Pick the image, not a zip of all documents.

Password pdf of a circular, unrelated. This article is jpg photo.

I will not write a year-wise table of kb. It would be wrong by April.

Read this year form, then compress. That sentence is the job.

If a teacher forwards my article as the official size, tell them no. Point them to the form. Point them to Compress Image only as a wrench, not as a rulebook.
